Its Back

Well the lockouts over and therefore so is my sabaticle from blogging friends. Today was the official start or free agency and it started off good. Big names released adding to the pool. Now so many divisions are turned around. Teams that weren't considered contenders are, and best of all with the owners agreeing that every team had to spend a certain amount of money the league should continue to get more competitive.

As always the Patriots made huge additional without using anything of value to get what they wanted. Picking up somewhat of a problem child in Albert Haynesworth was I believe the best move made this off-season. Just 2 years ago he was considered the best DT in football. And though his time in Washington wasn't even close to productive he showed he still had the burst that made him 100 million dollars when not injured and whining. Winning is the ultimate elixer and that's what they do in New England. The Pats also traded for WR Chad Ochocinco. Now he's still productive on field. But along with his off-field antics and age he might only have 2 seasons left. I've heard people compare it to them getting Randy Moss and that's kind of crazy to me. In terms of stats Jerry Rice, Terrel Owens, and Randy and the three most productive players at that position. And if Chad has a record year like Moss did with Brady he still wouldn't he close to them. Is he an elite player of our time? Yes. Is he a argument for the Hall? Yes. But he'll never be on the level of Moss. Nevertheless the Patriots got much better.

Reggie "pay me" Bush was traded to Miami and was replaced by the same type of back in Darren Sproles. The difference is you don't have to please Sproles by making him formations or playin him a certain percentage of time. He just does what's asked. Be fast and cause mismatches. Now some would say Bush did cause mismatches because of the formations he was put in. I disagree any player faster than the player guarding them is a mismatch. So not just Bush would have that advantage.

Some people don't get what Seattle is up to or even if they are trying to compete this upcoming season. A year after upsetting the Champs they have released Matt Hasselback and signed Tavaris Jackson. I honestly believe they'll be just as good next season.

The Eagles have mass the most noise so far. Signing Nnamdi, Vince Young, Cullen Jenkins, and Jason Babin. Making them the favorite to win it all from what I'm hearing. People really need to realize something though. Is Nnamdi the best corner in football? Yes, but these other players are not what I would call consistant. Cullen Jenkins has never played in a 4-3 before, Jason Babin just had his first double digit sack season ever and we all know Vince is just insurance. He be no means will get to play unless absolutely necasarry. While I'm imressed by what they've gotten some so far. Its almost like they are trying to take the Cowboy way to winning. Which is spend whatever it takes. In a division in which you play against Demarcus Ware, Justin Tuck, Brian Orapko, just to name some of the pass rushers in the division. They should probably focus more on protecting Vick and less on defense. Because the NFC East is an extremely weak division when it comes to offense.

Though the Texans missed out on the Nnamdi sweepstakes they Did make some great moves. Signing Jonathan Joseph and Daniel Manning to long term deals. This really solidifies a secondary that ranked last at everything last season. They also cut former first rounder Amobi Okoye because he just didn't fit in a 3-4 scheme. He quickly signed with the Bears.
