What golf really needs

We're two days into the US Open and young Rory Mcillroy has shown that even with the absence of Tiger Woods in the field history can still be made in golf.

Shooting a near perfect round until slicing a ball into the rough and double bogeying on 18 Friday he proved he has at least learned to weather the storm a little better than he has in the past. This is huge for a game that has longed for another young phenom for what seems like years. As a fan I know golf needs this, if its not Rory than maybe it would be Dustin Johnson. After seeing a young Tiger go out and win the Masters at such a young age and then dominating the sport in the fashion he did for so long, and then dropping off so quickly. Well to say the least to anyone who actually watches golf it leaves you wanting more. Regardless whether its an American or not, whether you have always rooted for them or not you just want more.

With one more day to play and with Mcillroy holding a decent lead we can only hope he holds on to take it. Because let's face it, rooting for the top American players as of right now is so boring. Steve Stricker and Phil Mickleson are the top two and "Lefty" is all the way down in world rankings to 15.

So to Rory I say good luck Sunday. The game needs you right now, as a player, role model, and most of all as the talent you are.

The Blame Game

The finals are over, and me being a person that listens to mainly sports talk radio all I've been hearing about is the Heat. Whether its about them not achieving the goal, Lebron choking, or even trading Chris Bosh. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for change and even more after losing but he's necessary for them to have success in the future.

Round one against the Sixers was basically a warm up. No they didn't sweep but they did prove a point. They can't be beat by a weaker team in a seven game series. And just about everyone on the team played pretty well. No complaints here.

Now round 2 against Boston things were so different. The games seemed close but really never were, mostly because of Lebron closing out mostly every game during the series that was close. No joke, and the weird thing is that the player considered to be the closer and leader on the team had maybe the best match up on offense with Ray Allen guarding him most of the time. Am I saying Mr. Wade choked? No. Not yet. But with a premeire defensive player like Paul Peirce on him he continuously did what he couldn't ever d years before. Penetrate the Celtics defense. By doing this he got to the line a lot. And really that's why they won the series. Rebounding and free throws.

Now in the next series Miami had the leagues top team and MVP in Derrick Rose and the Bulls. During the series in Chicago, the home town of Wade. It almost seemed like he wasn't quite home sick out there, more like sick of being back home. He played horrible all series. And even the be-littled Chris Bosh played great. Bosh out playing Boozer was pivotal in the series.simply because if he was a defensive liability he would play less minutes. And the best Boozer is a benched Boozer in the end. Which is why know who Taj Gibson is. Not because of pure talent, but because Boozer cannot guard a perimeter power forward who can dribble, and he can.

Now during the series Lebron actually guarded Rose and was proud to do so. This is when I started having a little hope for him in terms of maturity. And he Did his job holding him to just 6% from the floor while matched up with him. That's almost a selfless decision and let's keep it real, that's not like him.

Did he disappear in the Finals? yeah compared to what he normally does.

But this begs a question. With him struggling why is it that the so called cut throat Wade never did anything about it? Why is it that while Lebron does deserve all he gets it's okay as Wade continuously sits right next to him and never take any blame?

I find it weird that a player portrayed the way Wade is with the media hasn't caught more about "cough gate." I mean people still called him the leader of the Heat all season long as his numbers actually went down a bit and Lebron basically got the same stats that won him an MVP. Well less PPG but account for his shooting percentage and it really evens out.

All and all I honestly believe that both Lebron and Wade disappeared in the finals. Bosh hit a game winner. No not at the buzzer but right after being called out for not being tough enough on the boards he did Wades job. Closed out a game.
