Packers at Steelers 2009.

Great game. I can see the Super Bowl going the same way. Less points though. Both defenses are much improved and Polumalu wasn't playing in this one.

Super Bowl Preview

After watching the games yesterday I had to write a blog about the two teams that made it to the super bowl. Now as you know I picked the Bears to win but that doesn't mean I'm taking the team that beat them so bad yesterday.

The Packers played some decent football yesterday but not great. They were given at least one first down and the pick by urlacher should have been a pick six and that helmet to helmet call on peppers was bogus. If you want to play qb professionally then you have to be ready for that. It wasn't malicious hit. Anyone remember when lawrence taylor broke joe theismans hip? Was there a penalty on that. Nope.

On offense the Packers played horribly after the first drive of the game. If not for the fact that the Bears had to go through all three qb's it might have actually been a game.

Can anyone after seeing the game yesterday say that you think the Packers showed on either side of the ball that they can beat the steelers? The way they played yesterday I'm saying no.

The Steelers defense is too good. I actually thought the same thing about the Bears but as well as they played it wasn't enough with absolutely no production from the offense. The Steelers should be able to run the ball as the Bears did. But in no way possible do I see Dom Capers coming up with something to confuse the Steelers offense like he did the Bears. After all Ben has literally seen almost every defense already in a lot of big games.

I am impressed by the Pack though. I just don't see them beating the Steelers yet. But Rodgers is an elite qb that will be in more super bowls. At least one more, he is that good. His team as a whole just isn't quite where the Steelers are yet as a team.

Championship Weekend

Jets and Steelers in the AFC. Packers and Bears in the NFC. No way I thought the Jets in this game but they made it. The question is what teams have what it takes to make it to the big game in Dallas?

The Jets have shown their defense can definately win them ball games. But can they really out play the Steelers at home? I don't think they can. Though its possible I am picking Pittsburgh. Mark Sanchez is getting better and they're line is playing some inspired football. But the Steeler defense is just too much. I'm actually going to give a score in these last blogs of the playoffs to give everyone a good look at how I'm feeling. 27-17 Pittsburgh in this one people.

Aaron Rodgers just played the best game of his playoff career. But so did Jay Cutler. After hearing the Bears say they were unhappy about the media solely talking about Rodgers after last weeks games I kind of agreed. Rodgers gas the luxury of playing behind a line that's been together a while and in a system that hasn't changed since he was drafted. While it did take a while the Bears offense has come together. And the Packers are a great team on both sides of the ball. But the Bears are simple. Coverage based defense with pressure coming from the front four rarely over load blitzing. I think the Packers have to count on the big play and it puts them at a disadvantage. When they played earlier this season Chicago played extremely deep with an extra safety on the field on almost every play. I see this working again. I'm going 30-24 Bears here. I picked them to make it to the Super Bowl to begin the season. So I have to stick with it.

Down To It. . . NFC Edition

Bears, falcons, green bay, and the seahawks? Really I am not surprised like most. But do I think they have what it takes to go deeper into the second season? Well here ya go.

Green bay can offensively and defensively as well. Aaron rodgers is a prime time quarterback. But atlanta does everything just a little better than them. It should be a great game but I just don't see Matt Ryan losing another one at home soon.

The bears should kill seattle. Too much defense for the seahawks this time. The bears don't use weird or exotic packages like gregg williams they cover and let the line get after the quarterback. And without that fast deep threat seattle is at a disadvantage.

And down to it I am goin out on a limb and taking the bears because of that defense. I will admit atlanta is a much better team but chicago is just built for this game.

Down To It. . . . AFC Edition

Now we know its goin to be baltimore, pittsburgh, new england, and new york in the afc race. It wouldn't be right for me not to make my picks publicly.

Well I am most definately taking new england over new york for one reason this is the game they want every season so I garuntee they will be ready. And unlike the colts they are actually better than years past.

I am taking pittsburgh solely because of home field. That's a matchup that's always good and I expect the same this time.

I would call it a toss up between new england and pittsburgh but in all honesty I don't believe that. I think the patriots are built to win this one. Tight ends built to stop the blitz and also slip out on play action and make big plays. There running backs are also better at blocking too. Woodhead and green ellis might be towards of the best at it. So that's the afc side of the bracket there will be more for the nfc people.
