Bad Decision 3: Marrone in Buffalo

A year after spending over 100 million dollars on defense collectively, and still not stopping anyone all year the Buffalo Bills have changed head coaches yet again. Doug Marrone is a NY native who's probably living a dream by getting a chance at coaching the Bills. Unfortunately the NFL is a harsh reality more than a dream and I think Marrone will learn that the hard way as a HC. Though Marrone. does have some experience as a HC from having the same title at the college level I do not think he's prepared or ready to coach in the pro's and definitely not these misfits.

Marrone comes from the college level, a level at which he didn't over achieve by any means. He took a REALLY  BAD Syracuse Orange football program and made it better. That's a far ways off what he's got to do in Buffalo. He's coming to a team with absolutely no tradition of winning. In a division full of teams with better talent. This is going to make things harder than being in one of college football's weakest conferences and getting 8-9 wins. He won't have the talent he's had as a college coach either because no players ever want to play in Buffalo. Along with that he has a team full of ME FIRST players and in the NFL that's never good. Marrone was handed a team with no identity on offense, and s defense that has switched it's scheme multiple times within the last few seasons. In a division with the Pats and now the no huddle running Dolphins the Bills will have to figure out their defense. In the same division as Tom Brady I'd say that's the biggest priority that the Bills should have. But all I've heard is whether or not Marrone takes his guy Nassib from Syracuse. That should be the last thing on his mind.

If Marrone stands a chance in this league as a HC it won't be with the Bills. The Bills have TOO MANY issues to be dealt with in a season or 2. With players like CJ Spiller and Mario Williams it won't be easy to change the culture there and for a untested coach like Marrone it'll be almost impossible. When I heard Chan Gailey was fired I thought for sure the Bills would bring in a veteran HC. Like a Lovie Smith or Ken Whisenhut. That would've made more since to me. But because of the circumstances and everything involved, new Bills HC Doug Marrone is my 3rd bad hire of the 2013 NFL season.
